Have a lovely braai at one of these picnic spots around Johannesburg

On the 24th of September South Africans across the country celebrate Heritage Day by lighting fires and braaing their favourite meat. Don’t stay at home on this day; rent a minibus and take your family and friends out and have a braai under tall shady trees at some of the loveliest parks around Johannesburg. Why rent a minibus you may ask? What else can accommodate braai stands, the grill, charcoal, cooler boxes and anything else you may need?

Emmarentia Dam – Greenside

This beautiful park is situated only 6km outside Sandton and is opposite the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. Fishing is allowed at the dam where bass, barbell and carp can be caught. Instead of braaing meat for Heritage Day, why not make use of the fish you caught and cook that instead? Remember to bring your fishing licence with!

With lush lawn, green shady trees and open spaces, Zoo Lake is the ultimate spot for a day of relaxation. Bring your braai goodies and gazebo to take part in the fun of Braai Day. There’s a tennis court on the premises for those who fancy a game during the course of the day.
